STORIES FROM PATINA MEADOW

THIS YEAR AT PATINA

If I were to describe this past year in one word, it would be full—full of dreams coming to fruition, full of laughter, joy, and the occasional tears; full of time spent with family and friends, as well as time hard at work; full of life.

Before diving into a recap of the mile markers we sped past in 2024, I want to take a moment to thank you. Over 10 years ago, I began sharing our lives online with the simple hope of inspiring and connecting with others who shared my love of design and beauty. Now, more than a decade later, what started as a blog has grown into something far beyond what I could have imagined—complete with a store, a farm, and a community that lovingly supports our wild ventures.

You are the glue that holds together everything that we put together this year, and for that, I am incredibly grateful.

PATINA HOME & GARDEN

We recently highlighted all the exciting new additions to Patina Home & Garden in our 2-year anniversary blog post, so I’ll keep it brief here. That said, I do want to share some of my favorite trends that caught my eye this year.

As I ring up customers at our front counter, I’ve repeatedly noticed how excited our visitors are about the opportunity to purchase locally made goods to display in their homes...

Wheel thrown pottery by Leila Rose Giannetti

and healthier options to add to their kitchen...

and even their vanity.

We are honored that our shop is a place where visitors, whether they visit once or once a week, can discover new products that can enrich their lives in every way.

Of course, we are thrilled that you joined us in celebrating our new book, Patina Homes & Gardens. This book represents the culmination of Steve's and my career as an architect and interior decorator, embodying our ultimate design mission—to help people live their dream lives in their dream homes.

PATINA MEADOW

We will always remember this year as the one when the construction of our farm was finally completed. Seeing Steve's drawings come to life on this property was undoubtedly one of the most gratifying moments of 2024. Knowing this is just the beginning makes it even sweeter.

THE BLOOMERIE

When Leila moved to Patina Meadow with us, she came with a vision: to grow organic vegetables, flowers, and herbs for our community. In 2024, this budding dream blossomed fully, with hundreds of pounds of produce and flowers from the Bloomerie to our kitchen and yours.

Each season brought something new. We welcomed spring with fresh tulips and pastel blooms that filled the fields and the sales floor at Patina. Our greenhouses were brimming with seedlings, all destined to flourish in the summer.

Summer brought an abundance of tomatoes—so many tomatoes—along with peppers, cucumbers, and so much more. Our farm shop was brimming with fresh produce, and we were thrilled to have you join us in enjoying the harvest.

Fall was characterized by dried flowers, pumpkins, peanuts, cover cropping, and getting ready to do it all again next year!

GATHERINGS & WORKSHOPS AT THE SHED

When construction at the Shed was completed in August, we hit the ground running with our plans. We hosted our inaugural gathering, with the help of Wiley Canning Company and Greenwood Honey Co. It was surreal to see the space filled with the smiling faces of new friends.

In the following months, we hosted workshops ranging from canning and preserving, sourdough making, and honey tasting, to Biodynamic Barrel Compost making.

We closed out the year with the announcement of the newest addition to the Shed at Patina Meadow—the Potterie. Leila is eager to begin classes next month and looks forward to sharing the joy of wheel-thrown pottery with all of you.

THE BARNYARD

I thought I would close out our recap with the most adorable additions of the year—the newest animals at Patina Meadow.

Over the past months, we’ve welcomed quite a few glorious goats...

And of course, our sweet Valais Blacknose Sheep!

You all loved this adorable breed as much as we did when we introduced you to them during our workshop with Blacklion Rare Sheep Milk Vodka!

From all of us here at Patina, thank you for being a part of this incredible year with us. We look forward to continuing this journey with you.

Thank you so much to the team that has helped make this all a reality! Image by Lisa Romerein

Wishing you all a very merry Christmas and the happiest of New Year's.

See you in 2025!
